I had the opportunity to work on ‘Call Me Country: Beyoncé & Nashville’s Renaissance’ for CNN. I drew inspiration from concert posters and letterpressing to infuse Nashville’s Country history into the title sequence and graphics in this documentary.
Photo Wall
One of the biggest lifts for this documentary was to create a “photo wall” graphic that would highlight various female black artists who played a role in the history of country. The team originally used a slideshow as a placeholder. I always wanted to experiment with this “reveal” technique and took this opportunity to have the viewer move through z-space and watch the characters print on.
Headline GFX
The printing effect was further utilized to reveal not only photos, but headlines as well.
